What is it? MindMeister is an online mind mapping builder that allows you to share your mind maps with others. This is designed to enable students to work together on the same mind map. One student will create the initial mind map then share the map with other students that need to work on it, they are given a link to the mind map and they are then free to access and work on it. Students can work on the same mind map at the same time using different PCs.
This provides a range of opportunities for group work, and as the mind map in online and accessible by any student in that particular group, tutors do not need to worry about some students missing a lesson - and of course, tutors do not have to worry about students forgetting work.
How do I access it? You need to sign up for a free account on the MindMeister website. Be careful when signing up as although they offer a basic account for free, they also offer subscription accounts as well., sometimes it is confusing which link you are supposed to click for the free account.
Guides / Support MindMeister is fairly straightforward to use, but there is help online as you use the program.
Purdue University provides an
excellent guide to MindMeister, as well as examples of how mind maps can be embedded into lessons.
